Data and Assessments

In a balanced assessment system, both summative and formative assessments are an integral part of information gathering. District 95 uses several other state and program assessments to determine student placement and to provide individualized instruction to our students.

MAP

Measures of Academic Progress® (MAP®) creates a personalized assessment experience by adapting to each student’s learning level—precisely measuring student progress and growth for each individual.

IAR

The Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) is the state assessment and accountability measure for Illinois students enrolled in a public school district. IAR assesses the New Illinois Learning Standards Incorporating the Common Core and will be administered in English Language Arts and Mathematics.

ISA

In compliance with federal testing requirements, Illinois will administer a science assessment to students enrolled in a public school district in grades 5, 8 and once at the high school level. The assessment will be administered in an online format and is aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards for Science incorporating the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), which were adopted in 2014.

Running Records

Running records are consistently administered throughout the school year for all students. A running record assesses reading fluency and comprehension. The goal of a running record is, first, to see how the student is using the strategies being taught in class, and second, to know the instructional reading level based on our Fountas and Pinnell reading-level system which is supported with other programs that include but are not limited to (Reading A to Z, RazKids, MyOn, Epic and Moby Max ). Thinking about instruction, when you combine a running record with some analysis, you can address student mistakes and plan their next steps to help make decisions about tiered instructional options for all students.
