Superstar Weekly Newsletter 10-10-24

Superstar Parents,

Just a reminder that we have no school on Friday or Monday. We had a very busy short week this week and we concluded with a scheduled fire drill with the LaGrange Park Fire Department. We did an incredible job and we were impressed with how well everyone did. In the very lengthy blast there are many important items including the parent sign-up for the Halloween parties, BPC Fun Run, our cellphone/smartwatch policy and information for parents about digital citizenship. Tomorrow, our teachers will be sending out the information for parent teacher conferences that will take place Monday, November 4th (In Person) from 10am-7pm and Monday, November 25th (Virtually) from 10am-7pm.

Halloween

Halloween information is linked.  If you have any questions contact Mr. Sorensen or Mrs. King.

Halloween Volunteer Sign Ups for the parties are now available through the BPC. You can sign up using the link here.

Cell Phone/Smart Watch Policy:

As a reminder, cell phones must be turned off and in students' backpacks during the school day.

This policy also applies to all smart watches that should be turned off or on Do Not Disturb/Airplane mode throughout the school day. Having watches or phones on causes a disruption to the learning environment. If you need to relay a message or make a dismissal change for your child, please contact Mrs. Chobot in the Gold Office (K-2) or Mrs. Likness in the Blue Office (3-5). Watches/phones can be on before/after school. We appreciate your support in this matter!

Celebrating Digital Citizenship Week!

The week of October 14th, Common Sense Education is leading a Digital Citizenship Week! This is an annual campaign to promote a healthy, balanced, and positive approach to media and tech use among young people. We use a lot of the wonderful resources Common Sense Education has to offer in our Digital Literacy class here at Brook Park for 3rd through 5th graders! We talk in great lengths about what it means to be a super digital citizen! Common Sense Education has created a great activity for your family to enjoy and to get you talking about digital citizenship. We have linked it here. It has a music video about how to be a great digital citizen and then some wonderful talking points for you and your family to discuss after listening! If you have a 3rd, 4th or 5th grader they may recognize some of the characters in the video from class! Enjoy! -Mrs. Finn

Fire Safety Assembly:
On Friday, October 18th we will be having our annual fire safety assembly at the following times:

12:40-1:40 Grades 4 and 5
