Superstar families,
We had a wonderful week here at Brook Park and REALLY enjoyed this spring-like weather! Our teachers were trained this week on a program called GoGuardian which helps allow for more focused and efficient learning when the students are on their Chromebooks.
Here are a few things before the weekend:
Valentine’s Day
On Wednesday, February 14th Brook Park School will be celebrating Valentine’s Day. If your child is planning on bringing cards or Valentine favors for his/her classmates, these must be non-edible items such as pencils, stickers, erasers, etc. Edible treats are not allowed, due to the vast number of allergies.l
This upcoming week we will have Kindness Week at Brook Park School. We will have special spirit days and we will also be learning in our classrooms about making kind choices. Below are the spirit days:
Monday=Pajama Day
Tuesday=Wear Green
Wednesday=Wear Red
Thursday=Wear Blue
Friday=Wear Yellow
5 Essentials Survey:
We are inviting parents to complete the 5 Essentials Survey about Brook Park School and the link is http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/ This information is important for us to continue to grow as a school. The survey is open from Jan. 30, 2024 and closes March 29, 2024. We do need 20% of families to participate in order for us to review the data. Please help us reach our goal again this year!
Social Emotional Learning - Week of February 5, 2024
This week, students learned about the Effort Thermometer. Classrooms discussed what best effort looks like, sounds like, and feels like when their teachers are teaching and when they are completing independent work. Students also reviewed different strategies that can help them give their best effort - such as asking for an example, help getting started on a task, and extra time to complete a task. The School Social Work Corner is a great place to visit for more information on what students practice during our school wide social emotional learning lessons.
Spring Clubs:
Hello Superstar families!
This is just a quick reminder that Winter Club Interest/Registration Forms are due on Friday, February 16th at 11:59 PM. No forms will be accepted on Saturday, February 17th.
Winter Club Interest/Registration Form

Do not pay for a club on My School Bucks unless you have been notified by the club advisor that they were placed.*
Feel free to contact BP Club Coordinators with any questions: Elizabeth Smiley ([email protected]) or Kelsey Miller ([email protected]).
Ensuring safety in our school communities is paramount, requiring collective effort. Safe firearm storage is crucial in preventing tragedies by keeping guns out of children's reach, minimizing the risk of unintentional harm. Research shows the alarming connection between firearm access and school shootings, underscoring the importance of secure storage at home. By following simple steps like using locked cabinets and trigger locks, we can protect our children and schools. We have attached the information from the Department of Education.
