Superstar families,
It was a great full week here at Brook Park! We loved seeing so many of you at Curriculum Night this week and continue to look forward to a great year ahead. There are many important things coming up so please take a moment to read through them:
Meet our Social Workers:
Please take a moment to look to learn more about our wonderful School Social Workers, Mrs. Castro, Miss Solis and our Social Work Interns Miss Fetcho and Ms. Grundke.
Safety Drills:
We will be informing parents of all of our drills this year so that you are aware as a family. All of our drills are intended as a quick practice to make sure everyone knows how to be safe. All drills take approximately five minutes to limit the disruption to the school day. We do have our first drill coming up next week.
Fire: We will be having our first Fire Drill Wednesday, September 13th. The first fire drill we practice as a school. The next one will be with the Lagrange Park Fire Department to give us feedback.
Intruder: We will be having our first Intruder Drill next week on Friday, September 8th. We just make an announcement that we are practicing this drill and then Mr. Sorensen, Ms. King and Mrs. Johnson walk around the school to make sure the doors are closed and locked. There is no simulation of an intruder. If you would like a resource because you would like to discuss this with your child, we have linked one here.
Disaster/Tornado: We will be having our first Disaster Drill on Thursday, September 21st. Classes practice the Disaster Drill individually where they move to the first floor of the building away from areas with windows.
Bus Evacuation: We will practice bus evacuation on October 3rd. All of the classrooms are on individual buses and bus safety is discussed with the classrooms.
Crossing Guards Needed:
We are looking for crossing guards that can work on school days from 7:45-8:00 AM and 2:45-3:00 PM on the corner of 30th and Harrison, 29th and Harrison and crossing guard substitutes. Ideally we are looking for parents of Brook Park School. The pay is $15 per day and it is a great opportunity to help Brook Park students stay safe around the school. If interested, please contact Mike Sorensen at [email protected].
