BP Weekly Newsletter 4-14-2023

Parent Blast 4-14-23

We hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather this week and it was a great taste of summer that will be here before we know it! There are a few items before the weekend starts:

Fire Drill:

We will be having a fire drill with the LaGrange Park Fire Department on Thursday, April 20th at 9:30 am. This will be good practice for us and we will be using the actual fire alarm during this drill. Feel free to talk to your child about it beforehand and it is important to review fire safety in your own house.

SEL Blurb:

Kindergarteners, first and second graders reviewed the importance of using kind words.  They read and discussed Matteo's Words.  Third, fourth and fifth graders learned about what makes friendships healthy and rewarding.  They also reviewed Rules for Getting Along:

  1. Everyone needs to have a say
  2. Always practice empathy
  3. Think before you act or speak
  4. Everyone gets to have a turn
  5. You don't always have to be right
  6. Apologize when you make a mistake

Girl Scout Book Drive:

Let Girl Scout Troop 56053 help you with your Spring cleaning!  We would love to take your gently used children's books and give them a second chance to be enjoyed.  During National Library week, April 24-28, we are collecting picture books, graphic novels, middle grade novels and nonfiction books.  The donated books will benefit the Brook Park library, Classrooms and SCARCE.  See flyer for more information.
