Superstar Weekly Newsletter 2-24-23

Superstar families,

We had an amazing short week here at Brook Park celebrating Cultural Night last night with a great turnout. Please take some time to read about upcoming events before the weekend that includes many upcoming community events and a BPC Skate Night on Sunday :

5 Essentials Survey:

We are inviting parents to complete the 5 Essentials Survey about Brook Park School and the link is http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/ This information is important for us to continue to grow as a school. The survey is open from Jan. 24, 2023 and closes March 31, 2023.

We do need 20% of families to participate in order for us to review the data. Please help us reach our goal by taking the survey!

SEL Blurb:

Kindergarteners, first graders and second graders learned about and practiced compromising.  See the big three ways to compromise below.  Third, fourth and fifth graders learned about the importance of asking for help.  They practiced how to ask for help and discussed when they should do so.

Safety Drills:

We will be informing parents of all of our drills this year so that you are aware as a family. All of our drills are intended as a quick practice to make sure everyone knows how to be safe. All drills take approximately five minutes to limit the disruption to the school day.

Lockdown Drill:

On Tuesday, March 7th we will be conducting our third lockdown drill.  This drill is no different than the one we practiced at the start of the year and it takes a maximum of five minutes. Mrs. Johnson and Mr. Sorensen will walk through the building and make sure all of our procedures are being followed.
