BP Weekly Newsletter 11-21-22

Thank you to all of the families who completed our gratitude activity for the staff members at Brook Park. We were able to share all of your responses with an individual letter to each staff member. They were so appreciative for the amazing families and community we have here at Brook Park!

Just a reminder that we do not have school from Monday, November 21st through Friday, November 25th for the Thanksgiving holiday. We will be back in school on Monday, November 28th. We hope everyone has a restful holiday and enjoys time with friends and family!

SEL Blurb - Week of November 14

This week, teachers took the time to review any social emotional learning lessons they weren't able to spend enough time on, catch up on any missed lessons, and review the Zones of Regulation.  Learn more in our Social Work Corner.

Weather
The recent cooler temperatures are a reminder of the importance of sending students to school with proper clothing.  Students must be prepared to be comfortable in clothing appropriate for warm classrooms and then transition to the cold outdoor elements safely. Students should have a warm jacket along with gloves and a hat (when needed). We know how important movement and fresh air are so kids can stay on task and learn, so we make every effort to get kids outside during the day, as long as the air temperature and the wind chill are 20 degrees or above.

Brook Park Spirit Wear Holiday Sale:

The Brook Park Elementary School holiday sale has begun! Save 20% all November on everything in the store! Choose from hundreds of spirit wear designs and garments, including gift ideas for parents and grandparents. Guaranteed delivery by Dec 23rd! Visit https://1stplace.sale/30385.

Volunteer Opportunity:

Volunteer to be a Picture Person at Brook Park!  Picture Person is returning to Brook Park, and we are looking for 3 -5 parent volunteers per classroom to help present pre-written curricula covering significant American art and artists, with a hands-on activity following.  No teaching or art experience necessary and scheduling is flexible- this is a great way to get involved with your student’s classroom.  Commitments are expected to be around an hour and a half per presentation, including set-up and take-down, and 2-3 total presentations per parent.

See more at https://brookparkpictureperson.shutterfly.com/, or contact the Brook Park Art Teacher,  Stephanie Skertich, [email protected], or Picture Person Coordinator, Renae Yoo, at [email protected], to volunteer.  There will be an orientation meeting the evening of Wednesday, November 30 for volunteers.

We hope everyone has an amazing Thanksgiving and enjoys time with your friends and family!!!
