2-2-22
On Wednesday, February 2nd to celebrate 2-2-22, we will be having a school spirit day where staff and students are invited to wear tutus or school spirit wear or colors. Save your items because we will also have a special celebration on Tuesday, 2-22-22.
Valentineās Day ā¤ļø :
Valentine's Day will be celebrated on Monday, February 14. Students are allowed to bring in Valentine's Day cards only. Gift bags, pencils, and other such items will not be allowed and returned if brought to school. Please leave the envelopes of the cards blank for their easy and independent distribution by your child.
Valentine's Day cards are sweet gestures of friendship that support building our classroom communities without the added pressure to purchase small gifts for the entire class. Valentineās Day cards can be brought in either Friday, February 11th or Monday, February 14th.
SEL Blurb:
This week, kindergarteners, first and second graders, learned more about and practiced mindfulness. Third, fourth, and fifth graders explored ways of letting go of stress. Click the above links for more information.
5 Essentials Survey:
We are inviting parents to complete the 5 Essentials Survey about Brook Park School and the link is http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/ This information is important for us to grow as a school. The survey is open from Jan. 11, 2022 and closes March 11, 2022.
Kindergarten Enrollment:
If you have a child who will be five years old on or before September 1, 2022, please fill out the form here to sign up for a time slot for Kindergarten enrollment on February 18th.
Online enrollment launches on Monday! Please use the registration page on the district website. This is the first step in the process before coming on the 18th.
We will send you a confirmation email to confirm your time closer to the date of the event. We are looking forward to welcoming our next group of Kindergarteners to Brook Park!
Virtual Music Performances:
Hello Brook Park families! Due to social distancing guidelines, we have decided that our music performances this year featuring the students of Brook Park School will be video-based. The students will be making performance videos of what they are learning during music class, and those will be compiled into a grade level video for viewing on YouTube. The link from YouTube will be unlisted and the videos will not be publicly published. Also, there will be no student names in the videos. EXTENDED! Cookbook & Traditions DUE FEB. 4
Thank you to the students and their families for participating in this yearās Brook Park Community Cookbook & Traditions! We've extended our deadline to include more great recipes or traditions, which can be as easy as "on movie night my family makes popcorn and adds M&Ms" or "during the Super Bowl, my aunt makes nachos."

Community Offerings:
Community Park District of LaGrange Park: Check out their information about upcoming programs.
Youth 3 on 3 Basketball League
Who?: Boys and Girls PreK thru 8th Grade
League Dates: March 3-April 16th (perfect buffer between Jr. Bulldogs season and when the weather gets nice for baseball).
Practices: Either Thursday or Friday nights (focus on skill building)
Games: Saturdays morning/early afternoon (beginning March 5)
Staff: Current and former RB Boys Basketball assistants, Jr. Bulldog staff, and former RB players.
Why 3 on 3? 3 on 3 allows players to work on their skills, as they will get more touches throughout the game, than a normal 5 on 5 game. More touches= more dribbling, more passing, and more shooting, which allows for better skill building at the youth ages.
