We had a terrific full week at Brook Park School and enjoyed all of the sunshine. One highlight for the week was on Wednesday when so many of the 2nd Grade Hybrid students celebrated becoming authors! They had their non-fiction writing turned into an informational class book and were able to share their writing with others.
Superstar Spirit Day:
On Friday, April 23rd we will be having a spirit day. We invite all students in Hybrid and Remote to wear Brook Park Spirit Wear or Blue and Gold
IAR Testing (Grades 3-5 Only):
The Illinois State Board of Education has not waived the requirement of state testing this year like they did last year. Also, there is no remote option, per ISBE, for those students who are attending school remotely. All students must attend school if they are to take the IAR test. The tests will be conducted for 4 days (6 total tests) on May 18, 19, 20, 21. Students will be distanced at 3 feet and will be mixed with cohorts of remote and in person students or placed in a testing center, based on remote student participation.
We will be flipping the day and all students in grades 3-5 will test during the Hybrid/Remote time they are typically in school. In order not to lose instructional time, the students will learn via Zoom with their classroom teachers in the other half of the day. The Specials and some Specialists will be monitoring the testing centers (Big Gym/Small Gym/Multipurpose Room/Library/Art Room). For example, Mike is an AM Hybrid student in Mrs. Kandah’s Class and he will test in the morning and he will have his learning via Zoom in the afternoon with Mrs. Kandah. We know this is a little bit confusing but this is a way to not give up four days of instructional time with the students and still meet the State of Illinois testing requirements.
